Day 18. Bacon and eggs for breakfast by the campfire at Negri River, then onto the Duncan Road again south 300 km to explore. We passed through aboriginal land to stop at the old Ord River Homestead ruins. Ross worked out of here in the mid 1960s when it was a thriving Vesteys cattle station. A visit to the old cemetery showed an old headstone of Tudor Shadforth killed by blacks in 1890 aged 27. From the old homestead we could see distant views of the magnificen...

Day 17. Up early as Max is taking us fishing for catfish on Lake Argyle. Down to the lake on an old bull catchers jeep and onto a modern fishing vessel all 5 of us. The trip down the creek to the lake just amazing with so much bird life amongst the dead trees in the water - brolgas, white egrets, pelicans, ducks of all types, jabiru, ibis, terns, magpie geese, as well as freshwater crocodiles. Day 16. Nice drive long Highway 1 towards Kunnunurra. On the way our we visited the Gregory Boab Tree inscribed by the Gregory Expedition in 1855 and up to the lookout to view the mighty Victoria River of over 800km. A tribute to the Nacharoos who defended northern Australia in WW2 as our northern commandos.
