Travelling in style from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu
Day 60!!!
I'm writing this on my bus out of Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu. 19 hours away. And oh what a complete joy! My legs are fully outstretched in front of me, I've closed the window curtains, I have ANOTHER curtain next to me for privacy from the person sitting next to me (if there was one which there IS NOT!), I have my own private telly right in front of me, I was offered a toffee as I got on, the lady has just given us all a packet of cracker things, my seat FULLY reclines, I have a HUGE pillow (actual pillow size, not minature), and blanket and there are two wrapped up individual baby wipes (usually for which I am immensely grateful but I've taken to carrying my own everywhere I go to lessen the traumatic toilet experiences!)!!! Luxury or what?? I needed this after my last bus journey. OMG 5 mins later and she's coming round with a tray of small glasses of drinks! More sugar tho. Either coke or sprite. You can't get away from it! I have water and fruit with me. I'll try to stick to that!
Ok so today I needed to buy some trousers. My 2nd pair are ripped and unusable - although I now have a pair of jammy bottoms. Every cloud and all that. I packed up my rucksack ready to check out and have realised I now have too much stuff! Now that it's loads warmer I'm no longer wearing almost everything I brought, which was my plan. Like it? So I no longer need all my warm layers. I'm going to find a post office and send some of it home. Then I'll have more space to buy a couple more tops!
I walked past a sleeping homeless person. At least I (and I guess every other person passing and stepping over him) presumed he was sleeping and homeless. He could have been dead, or dying. But what can you do? Shoogle every sleeping dirty guy and ask if he's ok? Here in Buenos Aires that would take up half your day.
I keep forgetting to say. There are still the same amount of dogs here but guess what? They're all attached to humans!
OMG something else I keep forgetting to mention! I translated Spanish for two other people the other day!!!!! I know!! Me!! I was in a cafe behind 2 people. They were pointing to the empanadas (a fried pastry thing like a cornish pasty filled with either meat or cheese). The woman said something to them in Spanish and they said they didn't understand. I piped up and said, she's asking if you want it hot or cold. He said hot then looked at me for the word, which I told him!!!! OMG I was so proud! Can you believe it??? I couldn't!!
Oh yeah back to my emergency trousers. Och I'm not even going to bore you with it. I took ages, my feet got sore and eventually got some. End of.
The trip BACK to the bus station wasn't as eventful as coming away from it. I got there 3 hours early just in case, and plonked myself down with my book. I'm so glad I DID get there early cos the whole time I was reading it poured with torrential rain!!
Right I'm gonna watch a film. This is TOO good! Laters
