The colluseum, needing a wash at the confusing museum
Saturdays nights tea for me consisted of a meat feast, i did order chips but they never came. So id paid €20 for 4 pieces of meat and a large beer! Expensive or what. We went back to the hostel and got woken up at 8:30 with bells ringing from the churches. I didnt like this hostel and wanted to leave sharpish. So we grabbed breakfast, well a bread roll and some dodgy orange juice and checked out straight away!
We hit an internet cafe and found a few hostels round the corner one called carlitos way we instantly thought mafia so lets check it out. We found it but got checked into the sister one next door called des artes, it was €5 more a night but we got a twin room and a shared bathroom. It was 10 times better than the other i actually felt safe here!
We walked to the colluseum and wandered round we got pestered to go on guided tours for an extra €12 euros ontop of the entry fee of €12, they blagged that there was a 45 mintue queue to get in, it was only 15 mins max when we went in. We walked inside and this place was huge , its more impressive from the oustide though, there was some plagues of useful information in there but nothing major. We walked round the ruins and all we could hear was german accents seems the germans had again invaded rome!
As we walked around the ruins it began to rain so we walked up the stairs where the forgotten soldiers were buried and found a very random museum, there was a load of italian stuff then suddenly went into nepoleon boneparte and other french stuff. We left and it was chucking it down, there was loads of people trying to flog umbrellas, i was sporting my shorts and t-shirt i had no jacket as id already washed it that morning. By the third guy i was just winding them up, saying, we come from manchester its like this everyday, to i need a wash, which turned out to be the best line as one guy didnt get it and was shouting it out to people walking past shoving his brolleys in their faces, classic made my afternoon!
We walked back to the hostel and by this time we were soaking wet but i didnt care i even started singing im singing in the rain. Copey on the other hand sporting his valero bruce forsyth sandals was ice skating down the road as they couldnt grip in the cobbled roads. I got my jeans on and we headed out to the kebab shop for tea, it cost me €7 for a kebab with chips and a can , it was a chicken kebab but was good. We then wandered to find a supermarket, we walked for ages and found one. We bought our supplies and some lager for the night and walked back to the hostel. When we got in we looked at the map the hotel gave us and on the back was a supermarket less than 2 streets away. We had just walked proberly a mile to find one and stumbled back with the bags, oh well should of paid more attention i guess.
We cracked open our lager and watched tv, we put it on a channel where Miss lombardia 2009 was on. The camera went from her legs all the way up stopping on her t*** for a few seconds then carried on. Must of been the normal view that any italian man would do.
