The tour guide hostel owner and the pork feast

We woke up at 9 as we needed to check out and catch the train to florence for 10:45. We boarded a local train as it was the cheapest. It was the longest journey ever, i ended up playing scrabble on my phone to pass the time. I got a score of 307, which i dont know is good but i thought it was.

When we got to florence we followed the directions on the email and we ended up at the hostel sao paulino. The owner checked us in, gave us 3 sets of keys then drew us a full itinery on the map, telling us the best places to go and eat. You could tell he loved florence. We got into the room, it had two single beds a dvd player and the owner previously mentioned that we could raid his dvd collection if we wished!

We left the hostel and went to the santa maria cathedral, they love the name mary again. This was huge and highly impressive, the outside is decorated , the inside was quite plain apart from the dome. In our opinion this was ten times better then the sistine chapel and this was built by the same guy. We wandered around the city and walked down jewellers alley, it was called ponte vecchio, there must of been hundreds of jewellers. If cash for gold came down here theyd be laughing! We wandered the streets and ended up at the city walls with a gigantic gate which was open and being used as a road.

We took our tourguides recommendation on eating at a restaurant it was by far the most expensive meal mine coming in at €35 but boy was it worth it. We both had at least 1/4 of a pig, from chops to ribs to sausages, i had profiteroles for desert i didnt think id fit them in but by the time the waiter came back i could fit it in! The roma vs inter milan game was on this game was well fast paced and roma had two goals disallowed some itailians where going mad.

We left there and walked back to the cathdral and sat in a bar called old stove. It was €6 a pint and the place was full of americans. There was a girl with a white skirt on standing with her legs at 16:40, she must of been airing herself out, has she not heard of fem fresh! There must of been about 100 people here and guess what, only one toilet. It was pathetic, needless to say you had to prejudge when you needed a piss 20 minutes in advance.
