The leaning tower of pisa and the day the tour guide let us down
We woke up and went to a bakery to get brekfast, copey had two croisants i had one and bought a sausage roll style pastry for lunch. We boarded the train to pisa, copey being the gentleman gave his seat upto some old lady and later found himself sat next to some americans. Now if you ever find yourself next to an american count how many times the words, like, awesome and wow come into the converstation. You will be surprised how many!
We got to pisa and headed straight for the tower it was straight ahead from the train station, just before we got in there was a load of lucky lucky man selling rolexs, copey got pestered by one saying its free to look. Yeah right next minute its on your arm and you owe him €200. We managed to escape them in the grounds, they must not be allowed in as they just hanged around the gates. The tower was amazing, i was quite impressed, it was like, so totally awesome. Sorry thats the yanks rubbing off on me. Everyone at the tower was getting a picture holding or pushing the tower, it was actually quite funny looking at people who were just holding their hands the wrong way! There are a few buildings there to explore, so We went into the cathedral which was quite good. The hostel owner /tour guide told us pisa was a half day trip he was so right. We wandered back to the train station and boarded a train that was running late so we got back to florence earlier than expected. On the train back a beggar women was handing out paper with her life story on she got to the seats in front of us and stopped, she didnt notice that the conductor was sat down, he b******ed her and made her go back and pick up all the papers.
We planned a cheap and filling tea so we double checked with the tour guide which one of the restaurantes he had circled was the one with the 'large pasta' servings. We then went to it, we had to wait for a table so the owner gave us a glass of white wine on the house while we waited. I struggled to find anything without tomato in so went for the safe burger and potatoes option. Copey had penne pasta. When they came out the pasta was quite small so god knows whats a normal portion out here. My burger was covered in cheese and tomatoes so had to do a reconstruction job there so i could eat it. We paid the bill but both of us were disappointed as the tour guide was normally spot on.
We went back to the hostel bought a beer from the shop on the way and watched a film called lady in the water. This was a very bizzare film, copey ended the night with what a load of s*** that was the tour guides let us down tonight!
