I hadn't realised how many lakes there were in Switzerland until we got here. Lucerne is situated on one of these beautiful lakes. It's also kinda close to some mountains that we thought we might go up - except for the clouds (again). So we missed out on going up to the mountains again, and instead had to look through the city centre, which was OK coz it was quite pretty. We roughly followed the walking route suggested by the tourist map, and saw a couple of cool covered bridges, some of the city wall and it's towers (including seeing the innards of the huge clock). The highlight was the carving of the dying lion, which was described by Mark Twain as the saddest piece of rock in the world. It was quite touching.
We would've liked to do a paddle steamer boat ride on the lake, but we ran out of time.
Oh well, Italy here we come.
