After leaving Loch Ness we went in search of some food (it was now about 4pm so a well overdue lunch!). We found a little town with a take away shop and sat down with our fish and chips to watch the shinty match that was going on between a couple of local teams. Edinburgh is a really beautiful place. The castle sits on an outcrop of rock, and the old town is centred around the royal mile - a street running down the hill from the castle to the royal house at the other end. Most of this street has been touristified and is lined with souvenir shops selling kilts and bagpipes, but the charm of the place is still there. We really only visited Glasgow because we got cheap flights here from London. The city itself was OK, plenty of shops and stuff, and some nice old buildings in the older part of town.
