We arrived in Tallinn on Wednesday (after a ridiculously early flight from London), and since then we've drunk a whole lot of beer! The reason we came to Estonia was for a beer festival called Ollesummer, this lasts for 5 days and runs each day from 3pm-1am. I am happy to say that although we arrived at different times each day we didn't leave until kickout time every night. The beer festival was fantastic, our aim was to try a different beer every time and I think we succeeded (except for 2 slip ups when we'd forgotten that we'd already tried that beer). Anyway a record of all the beers we consumed throughout the five days can be found in the photo album. Some of the memorable ones include A.Le Coq and Saku (the local Estonian beers), cannabia (a cannabis beer) and the beer cocktails (beer + chocolate liquor + kirsch = yuk!).
The food at the festival was pretty amazing too, mostly big wood fired bbq's with all sorts of different meat - marinated shashlicks (kebabs), chops, sausages and burgers. There were also places smoking their own huge chunks of salmon (very tasty!) and roasting chickens. And each stall had some sort of potatoes, so it was a very meat and potatoey few days (apart from the toasted sandwiches we made at the hostel).
There were also different bands playing at the different tents throughout the festival, some of the highlights were; Abba covers by an Estonian pop star, Bi2 a highly anticipated Russian band (pretty crap if you ask me!), the Estonian Pop Idol finalists, and an ACDC cover band (quite good actually, although the lead singer was plump and wearing a bright orange tshirt, so they didn't quite look the part!). Some other random things going on whilst we were there included an aerobics oz style group wearing gold hot pants, topless dancing girls (9pm each night), a bungy jump, mobile saunas and an awesome jumping castle type obstacle course for the kiddies (Paul had to hold me back!).
There was a tower at the festival grounds that you could climb for a small fee and gave a great view over all the area. So we wandered up there and took a few more happy snaps.
We also spent a bit of time playing cards in the jazz tent with our Aussie Roommates, and some other random Aussies from our hostel. Then we moved onto the Holland Beach party tent (complete with sand and numerous freaks dancing on the stages providing the entertainment for us - don't miss the video we uploaded). After a particularly large day at the festival we found ourselves (along with our roomies) at a karaoke bar in the old town of Tallinn, I was very tempted to murder an Estonian classic but confined myself to 'Build me up Buttercup' and a few other english tunes.
Of course we did actually have a bit of a look around Tallinn itself, but luckily for us it's not too big so it didn't take too long to wander around. It has a lovely medieval old town with a great town square (just around the corner from our hostel) and most of the restaurants around have waitresses dressed in medieval costumes.

Max Nice blog! Talinn is definitely worth visiting! It has this crazy vibe that connects its complicated parts of history. It really evokes me memory of Warsaw and its troubled past.Warsaw is amazing city witch rich history and tons of touristic attractions and similar atmosphere. Moreover there are a plenty of clubs and bars to have fun My favorite is New Orleans (best pole dance shows in the town).
