Ok well the weather in Ireland has been all that we expected and more! The past couple of days have been filled with snow, sleet and hail, luckily we have the hire car so that we could crank up the heaters and stay warm!
We spent St Pats Day in Cork, arrived the day before and managed to find a B&B. The parade was pretty cool, filled with giant worms, scorpians and the obligatory community groups and brass bands. We then found a pub, the rugby was on (Ireland vs Italy) so we joined in the cheering (Ireland won by heaps) and then had to watch the France vs Scotland game to see if Ireland would win the 6 Nations Cup thingy (they didn't). Of course while this was going on we made some new irish friends, who then took us to another pub once the rugby was all done. Had a great night filled with guinness, beamish and other random stouts...
Sunday had a bit of a slow start, but luckily the B&B provided a hearty full irish breakfast! Then we headed off to Blarney Castle, where we kissed the Blarney Stone (so of course both of us have been talking non-stop ever since!!!) and tried to dodge the hail storms. The car seemed the safest place so we continued on to Galway, stopping at Limerick for lunch. The weather in Galway was even worse (I didn't think it was possible! Like being on top of Mt Wellington in a snow storm). Due to the hideous weather we didn't do much looking around Galway, just found a nice warm pub.
Today we were going to drive to the Cliffs of Moher but again the weather was horrid (8 people died on Irelands roads over the weekend) so we decided just to head back to Dublin, where we are now! Tomorrow it's off to Portugal, and I'm looking forward to some warmth!
