Day 29 After picking up permits from the visitors centre in Laverton and buying some Aboriginal artwort, started the 'Outback Way' following the Great Central Road. Travelled 311 km through the Great Victoria Desert along the red dirt road which is in mainly good condition with just a few sandy sections. Day 28 Hoped to get on a tour into the Super Pit as we arrived for it too late the last time we were in Kalgoorlie. However, alas, it wasnt meant to be as they weren't running it today. Went up to watch the rock being blasted away from the lookout, should be able to see the dust starting to rise from the blast in this picture. Day 27 The original plan was to travel North to Darwin from Perth but given all the rain they are still receiving in the North of Australia we have decided to head back towards Sydney with the possibility of flying up to Darwin later in May when hopefully the 'wet' is over. Day 26 After 8000km, since we departed Sydney, we left the car in to get serviced and caught the train into Perth. Went on a walking tour of the city, seeing all the main buildings and areas. Nice city, pretty compact and relaxed feel about it and the Swan river and Kings Park Gardens are picturesque. Maybe not as hip and trendy as Sydney or Melbourne but probably a more relaxed pace of life for the residents. After lunching on sushi (mmm) for the first time...

Day 25 Spent the day driving the 20km SW to Fremantle, or 'Freo' as the local call it. Lovely place, very hip and trendy feel about it with it's little craft shops and coffee shops. Walked around the Sunday Markets and did a little bit of souvenir shopping then back to campsite to laze around the pool as it was 35 degrees today. Overnight: Discovery Park, Perth Distance: 74km
