Day 33 Today started by headed east along Lasseters Highway. This was named after an early explorer who headed out west from the Olgas and after sheltering in a cave for 25 days, attempted to walk the 100+ km back, perishing along the route. It's a bit of a treat to have our rear view mirror back as this kept coming loose from it's attachment on the unsealed outback roads. Day 31 Saw this little critter today, very cute and harmless, he is a Thorny Devil lizard. About 90km from last night's overnight stop, fuelled up at a community called Docker River which is just on the Western Australia, Northern Territory border where the owner of the service station kept the doors barred and you had to knock to get them to open up. Day 30 Filled up on something called Opal fuel, which is a replacement for unleaded used in Aboriginal reserves. This was introduced so as to stop the locals sniffing leaded or unleaded fuels as it lacks the chemical that they become addicted to. It certainly wasn't any cheaper than unleaded as we hit the $2 per litre mark for the first time.
