Now I can say that we are at Bergen. We caught a bus from the airport about 5:30am into Bergen to go to a hotel we were able to get a room for today. They were very good and let us leave our bags while we went out to breakfast. Checkin is at 2pm but they said we should be able to get in earlier. We went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. It cost about $20 each. We were all starving so it was very welcome. We then went shopping to get Dianne some
clothes for the start of our hike tomorrow. There is always a chance that her bag will turn up but being as we start our kayaking/hiking trip tomorrow at 9am it's risky to not have warm clothes. At about 11am we were told our rooms were ready so we checked in and had a couple of hours sleep. About 2pm we went into town and did a bit more shopping. Dianne then received an email from BA to say her luggage was on its way. It finally arrived about 4pm. Great news! Royalty seems to have followed us around a bit and today the King and Queen of Norway were walking the streets outside our hotel. I was too tired to go and watch but could hear the people clapping and cheering. We walked up a mountain where a vernacular train runs later in the afternoon. It was steep but the view was worth it. About half way up we heard a cannon. It was a 21 gun salute for the King and Queen as they prepared to sail from Bergen Harbor. After an icecream we caught the train down the mountain. We had dinner at the hotel and then packed ready for an early start tomorrow.
