We were planning to ride bike out to Zaanse Schans today but it was raining to hard so we caught the train. The windmills are pretty iconic for the Netherlands so it was good to find some still in existence and still working. There is also a small town of original buildings. The whole area is 3m below sea level. Dykes hold the sea away but if the sea levels rise due to climate change they will be in trouble. After returning to Amsterdam (no small feat because the trains give no indication of stations they are stopping at) Gavin wanted to see the Red Light District. I spotted a sign so we found it. Not a lot of action during the day but no doubt not the same at night! Tomorrow we leave for Paris on the train.
