Today started out like the last few days with persistent rain. We braved the elements (I had bought my umbrella so was pretty dry) to explore Copenhagen. Gavin was overheating in his rain gear so first stop was an umbrella for him. Fortunately not hard to find. There are many busts of academics outside the university and many statues in the city of various famous people. We were planning on visiting the famous Tivoli Gardens but it was too wet so will go back tonight if the weather fines up. We went to the travel bureau to find out about going across the bridge to Sweden. We will do that tomorrow before we fly to Amsterdam. We decided to do different things for the rest of the day so Gavin and I went to look at the shops as I needed new hiking boots. We stopped for lunch and listened to a brass band playing nearby. It was an outside restaurant with heaters. Very nice. By the time we had finished it had stopped raining. We bought new boots and a new travel bag and took them back to the apartment. We walked to waterfront to see the statue of the "Little Mermaid", walked through the Kasselet and walked through some parks. We bought dinner and cooked it planning that we would all go to the Trivoli Gardens after tea. Unfortunately by the time we had eaten it was raining again. Undeterred we walked into the city and ate an icecream. We abandoned the idea of the gardens as there wasn't much time left before it closed. We had a very pleasant walk anyway.
