Well we didn't start today as early as we should have as Trent was up sick last night, I think it was the 3 litres of beer, he says it was the cabbage.... Guess we'll never know ha. We arrived at marienplatz station to start today's adventure, first visited the Neus Rathaus which was stunning it has a working glockenspiel but we didn't get it see it in action :(. We then got slightly lost and wasted a bit of time trying to find the Residenz which is quite ridiculous with the size of it. Once we found it we spent the next 3-4 hours walking though the numerous rooms being enchanted by the opulence. It was an amazing and tiring experience walking in the footsteps of kings and queens through the ages. We then made our way back to the marienplatz and stopped by the frauenkirche (church of our lady) for a brisk walk through the church and more photo ops. We then boarded the s2 train to head to dachau a beautiful and quaint town with a terrible history, it is home to the first concentration camp to be used by the SS and the last camp to be liberated. It was an emotional and haunting experience to stand in the same place that many died brutal deaths. It was hard to imagine so many living in such confined spaces in such horrendous conditions. A place that will be hard to forget. We finished the day by coming home and getting a pizza and a bottle of wine and sitting in bed eating, drinking and talking about our day. Now to pack again and figure out where we are heading tomorrow, what a great adventure this is. Oh and I've taken over 600 photos in 4 days woops.

Melanie That is an incredibly huge day that one! I'd go home to bed too! I think everyone deserves a chance to have an experience where they can be "enchanted by opulence" that sounds divine. xx
Kylie O I went to Dachau a few years go and I found it quite upsetting. I had done alot of WW2 history and knew alot about it, but to go there and see it was another thing altogether. I was alone too...Cried all the way back on the bus to the YHA. So glad I went though...xx
