This morning we arose to find the fog had lifted slightly, not as dense as the days prior so we headed out for our last morning in Salzburg prior to leaving for Vienna. We went to the station and put our stuff in storage to save ourselves a trip back to the Trapp residence. We first walked to Mozarts house and had a quick look at the exterior of the premises as it was closed and we couldn't go in which wasn't high on the priority list anyways, just wanted to see the house. We also stumbled across Doppler's house which Trent was excited to accidentally find :). It was then onto the castle and it was disappointing to see it still shrouded in fog but what can you do sometimes Mother Nature is a b****. The castle was impressive and the ride up in the funicular was a trip. It was interesting to see that the castle had originally started with just a single small hut like building and grew to such a massive structure. We wandered through the marionette's museum and was slightly creeped out, they are amazing but creepy. They had great displays of the soldiers of Tirol. We took a quick trip around the exterior of the castle and then back down in the funicular. Made our way to the train station and off to Vienna.
We arrived in Vienna and it was quite brisk, luckily there was free wifi and we were able to book a hotel for the night. It was closer to the town centre so we had to get on another metro train to get to it. Thankfully information was still open and they could point us in the correct direction. It was a quick change of train lines and only a few stops and we finally arrived. Now the hotel was suppose to be directly across the road from the opera house but we couldn't seem to see it so we walked a little further up the street and found it, it was across the road from the opera house and you could see it from the hotel but it was not directly across the road lol. Was a nice hotel and the reservations clerk was just lovely. Well it was dark out and cold so an early night was in order.
