We got up early and headed straight to breakfast, the buffet at this 5 star hotel is amazing, e.g. eggs, bacon, cold cuts, jams, croissants etc etc. We went to reception to find out where we catch the gondola to the mountain top and she kindly informed us the mountain doesn't open until the 22nd of November. Arrrggghh so angry and disappointed, oh well, we made our way up the mountain as far as we could go by bus and although there was no snow on the ground at this point it was still an amazing view. After a short look around we started the hike back down towards the alpine zoo. It was such a lovely walk down, nice to be in nature and just enjoying the beautiful surrounds. We finally got to the zoo and spent a few hours wandering around there checking out the exotic birds and wildlife we don't get at home e.g eagles and alpine birds and otters and mountain goats, moose and buffalo etc etc. Was a really pretty zoo but it pales in comparison to our awesome animals :). After the zoo we started to walk back to the hotel, was a long walk but well worth it just taking it all in with the snow capped mountains and river and the beautiful city. We stumbled across the Xmas markets where we tried our first warm wines Gluh Wein really felt like Christmas time with the smell of cinnamon in the air and the snow around us. Just the way Christmas is meant to be :). That was a nice day bit slower paced and not so much jammed in. Back to the hotel for a quick dinner and early night off to Salzburg in the morning.
