Salta - only a mere 17hours from our last stop of Mendoza. We took a night bus which would mean for the majority of the time travelling we could sleep. Arriving first thing in the morning we headed to our hostel. After unpacking we looked at what there was to do in the area as we´d heard this was a hotspot for outdoor activities. After looking at what there was we settled on a trip to Cafayate.

Being in Salta during Semana Santa we were expecting to see some processions, unfortunately the main one was going to happen whilst we were on our trip, we chose to do the trip over the processions and were to be picked up at the bright and early hour of 7am,

Breakfast eaten, bags packed and we were picked up by our tour guide and joined by some Americans, Canadian, and Brit. It soon became apparent that our tour guide was somewhat nuts, but that always leads to a more interesting trip. The journey out to Cafayate took approximately 3hours but we had time to take in some stops along the way giving us ample time to take some photos, and for the American girl in the group who had a bad case of the s***s sufficient time to duck behind a bush and empty.

Upon our arrival we went to another vineyard (3rd too date in south america) where we sampled some of the local wine, quite strong 15%. This was very nice and well accompanied with some of the local goats cheese. Following this we had a picnic in the middle of the town square, very pleasant. We returned on our same 2hour journey with some more stops and plenty of loud music with additional interior light show in the tour guides minibus. We also got to see a procession of people in one of the towns along the way, making up for the missed one in Salta itself.

That night we ate in the hostel and chilled out with two guys from Austria who were both over here climbing. Good evening.

The following days were spent relaxing and taking in some of the towns sights such as teh cathedral and various churches.

After good times had in Salta we were due for the next destination, this time the highest to date of our trip - San Pedro De Atacama.
