Arrived in Buenos Aires expecting the worst after an interesting stay in Rio. Pulled into the bus station which was surrounded by slums - not a good start. We decided to get a 'remise' the safest taxi Argentina had to offer. We were greeted by a man covered in scars and missing teeth and politely shown to his car which had wires coming out the engine - later found out this was his way of starting the stereo - novel. So we were to spend 5 days in this city - which after a slightly rocky start was starting to grow on us. Everyone was super friendly, even toothless Tony seemed friendly enough. First two days didn't do too much apart from relaxed and got to know our surroundings. Day 3 we went on a city tour, which included a stop at Camineta, where all the brightly coloured houses ( made by the poor Italian immigrants out of corrugated metal ), La Boca stadium which was impressive, the rest of the stuff we 'saw' was from the bus and at speed. That night we went to a tango show, good fun and had a little practice ourselves. The fourth day was spent going to Recoleta, the final resting place of the Perons including Madonna herself. Quite an eery place with lots of cats. On the fifth and final day I woke up an uncle. Was quite a long labor but I pushed through albeit a little tired at the end. Off to the port now to catch the ferry to Uruguay.
