Travel musings from Sonia
London-where do I start!! Arrived here on Sunday evening-staying near Wimbledon with my cousin Duncan and his partner, Toots. They have a lovely garden at the back of their flat which is great for relaxing in.
Yesterday was another very warm dry day so I decided to spend most of the day outside wandering around central London. I took the underground to Westminster then walked from Ben Ben and Westminister Abbey to St James Park where I had lunch. It was great sitting under trees people watching and away from the clusters of tourists waving their cameras around Big Ben! Then walked past Buckingham Palace and the Queen Victoria Monument-all very impressive. The English certainly don't do anything by halves when it comes to buildings and monuments! I then walked through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens which were really beautiful. Great seeing so much green space. Finished up by the Royal Albert Hall and checked out the possibility of getting a ticket to one of the Proms concerts. I need to line up at the door tomorrow morning to try and get a ticket to hear the Czech Philimonic Orchestra tomorrow night, fingers crossed I can get a ticket...
Better sign off as the morning is fast disappearing and I want to get to Greenwich today. Then this evening Duncan, Toots and I are going to go on the London Eye to hopefully get a good view of the city.
Love to you all,
Sonia
P.S. Believe it or not Big Ben did look like that yesterday-under blue skies and sunshine!
