Hey guys!
Well I think im getting very good at updating this if I do say so myself! Good job really as I keep forgetting all the stuff I want to tell you all if I leave it too long!!
I was a busy girl today, got up nice and early this morning and went and applied for a couple of casual jobs- one looks quite promising, but as I say its casual work. But then anything is good to start with! So hopefully ill hear back from one of them next week, if I dont I have decided I am going to see Shain on the farm for a few weeks.
Anyway, I went up to Melbourne prison today. Was amazing to see the cells these people satyed in- no room to swing a cat!! I know they were convicts but you cant help but feel a bit sorry for them bearing in mind the conditions they were living in and the fact that half of them were actually innocent but convicted and hUng anyway!!
I went to see the area where they were hung as well, which was inside the prison and not very impressive actually. It was litrally a rope hanging from a beam in the ceiling with a trapdoor underneath- not very impressed!
But thats ok, because then I went out into the grounds and into the watch grounds which is where the prisoners awaiting bail and any 'short-trm residents' were kept.
They had a bit of role play going on so they treat you as if you are actually being arrested and what would have happended- how this prison guard kept a straight face I will never know! We could help but laugh when he was giving it all the 'call me sargent', dont speak unless you are spoken to and all this business. The punishment for this was that he locked us in the cell and turned the lights off! All these screaming woman...i dont know- its only a but of dark! lol So we wandered round looking at the variuos cells and padded cells they were kept in- on my pictures you can see the grafetti on the wasll- which is all original! and some pretty funny!!
You will see what I mean when you look at the pictures!
Once I had fully explored I decided to go to Melbourne library and have a look around- it weas a museum/ library/ cafe all in one! very odd! so had a little mosy in there and decided to go back to the hostel and get packing as guess what?
IM GOING AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND! I thought all this sight-seeing and fun has worn me out so I have booked myself a little weekedn get away to the Great Ocean Road and Phillip island.
I leave first thing in the morning and will be coming back on Sunday. Once I get back I will see what has happedned on the job front and decided what to do from there....
See you in a few days!
Love you lots xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ps. I forgot to tell you that I also tried Kangaroo for the first time today- in the form of Fajita wraps! Courtesy of Chris cooking me dinner again!
That was interesting- its a cross between beef anf lamb I have decided- quite nice!
Now all I have to try is some bush tucker and some crocodile!! yum!

Daddy Good morning wanderer So you managed to get someone else to cook your dinner for you..how do you do that? David is working his way through the stuff you left in the fridge and cupboards, this weekend he is at a music festival somewhere. I have just spoken to Steffi on Skype, she is fine and laid back as per usual. I think sooner or later you are going to get fed up with this sight seeing, easy life, playing the tourist thing aren't you? you will won't you? what do mean "NO!"? Great pictures of Melbourne Prison, that is a lovely old building (from the outside) bit scary on the inside! Some of the pics are coming out a bit dark, I know you were inside but we want these to last forever. Have a look at the camera settings.. Kangaroo meat tastes best with spring onions apparently :-) Love you always Daddy
