Greetings from Down Under!!
Well, what a mental few days I have had!! Its has been an emotional rollercoaster for me- being away from home in the unknown with no-one to talk to!
HOWEVER I have achieved so much already I am already wondering what tomorrow will bring!
The flight was interesting- not as bad as I thought I must admit and arriving in Hong Kong was certainly an experience I wont forget- did you know they are all chinese over there?!?! lol only kidding!
Anyway, I arrived in Melbourne around 10pm and managed to get a bus straight to the hostel, pretty much (5 blocks and a heavy rucksack does not make Jenny a happy girl!)
Once I booked in I was a bit lost actually cos the 2 french girls im sharing with went to bed as it was nearly midnight and I was WIDE AWAKE!! So I made a few phone calls to home to let them know I had arrived safely and sent a few texts to my nearest and dearest!!
Once I finally got to sleep I was WIDE AWAKE by 6am feeling very homesick and tearfull so I decided to get up and snap out of it! So I was on the streets of Mebourne by 7.30am this morning- funnily enough not much was open so I wondered further and further afield and did some exploring!
Had a nice breakfast in a charming little cafe and then I wondered up to Federation Square which is Melbournes main meeting place, went over the bridge of Yarra River and had a little wonder over there (not that exciting I didnt think) then I TOOK MY FIRST EVER RIDE ON A TRAM!! HOW EXCITING!! Im glad I figured out how easy it is to get trams before I spent weeks walking miles everywhere- so that was fun!
I then found St Pauls catherdral so had a little wonder round there which was interesting!I then went up to the Fitzroy gardens, Captain Cooks cottage, The miniture tudor village and the fairies tree! how coooooool!
By this time, I was absolutly shattered so I have come back to the hostel to find out a bit more about what is going on an meet some people!!
There is plenty to do here- a few things I have lined up are a titanic exhibition, football game at melbourne stadium, shopping in Queen Victoria market and also check out China town and some of the museums. So that should keep me busy for a few days!!
Who knows what tomorrow will bring...
In the meantime, you all take care- I love I miss you all lots and lots xxxx

Daddy Good morning Jennifer (it is to us) Thank you for the phone call, to say it took me by surprise might be a bit of an understatement... I seem to remember someone else telling me Hong Kong was full of Chinese people, odd that. They get everywhere you know, very adventurous. Bit like you. Where did you find internet access? is it in the hostel? I am sure you will soon find some fellow travellers who are full of interesting tips and ideas and you will soon find that no matter where you are and what you are doing there will not be enough hours in the day.. even down there where they talk funny. Stay safe and make the most of every minute.. Love you always Daddy xxx
Steph Hi Wren, Wow, you really have had a busy day! Sounds really good though and I'm glad you've found a cheaper way to stay in touch with us! I hope you're getting on okay and I'll hear from you soon. Travel safely and take lots of pictures! Much, much, much love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
