Jambo!!
The house that we are staying in is beautiful!! Its in one of the luxurious parts of the villiage and we really are being treated so well by all of the work the world team. They are slowly becoming our second family. Witness is the cook she makes the most amazing food for breakfast and for tea. She also lives in the house during the week and then goes home to her own family at weekends, she works so hard and is always smiling. Then there is Emannuel, he walks us too and from the dala dala stop to ensure that we are safe. He also sits in the garden with me practising swahili!! Then there is a day guard and a night guard to ensure that no strangers get in, so all in all if we follow the rules we are extremely safe here. The only thing that lets it down is the electricity cuts!! they happen ALOT and when they happen there is no hot water!! I have had 1 hot shower since I left home!!
Michaela and I have not had chance to go to the local orphanage yet, that is on our plans for next week after work one day, aswell as walking around the coffee plantation where we can roast our own coffee (even though neither of us drinks it!!) and one of the local waterfalls.
We have been to a different hospital today Levalossi, where the paediatric team is based for the next 6 months due to renovations at Mt Meru. It was a slow start with lots of writing, however it did get better as the day went on. It was still a shock seeing 2 or three mums and their children in one hospital bed!!!
Off out for a house BBQ tonght, followed by good old kareoke and dancing at Via Via. Not looking forward to the 7am for safari pick up on friday!!
So much more to tell but not enough time on the computer. Having a great time, sank in today that i'm not coming home for a wee while.
Lots of love xx

Linda Hi Nichola and Michaela What an experience you are having. I am so relieved you got there safely and the accomodation is good. Sounds as though there are a lot of people there to help you all settle in. I had a tear in my eye reading about the babies. I think that would be the hardest thing for me to deal with but that is what going to a different culture is about I guess. I will keep up to date with your blog, it is fascinating! Take care, Linda
