Noyelles Travels
Tuesday 20th May
Today we went in procession to Spoleto, about 50k from here. It is a town famous for its music festivals & its old town on the hill above the newer town below. After a well deserved coffee we ascended to the old town in a small bus & stopped near yet another large church. The ladies found a discount shoe shop which took their fancy whilst Jane & I visited the tourist centre where we were given a map & a suggested itinerary when Jane explained we had an hour to do the old city. Although it is a pleasant enough place we were not over impressed with it & after circumnavigating the castle & seeing the 13th century aqueduct we descended on a series of escalators to the newer town to retrieve our cars. One highlight was seeing the tomb of St Isaac in the crypt of one of the churches.
We left Spoleto & after a series of misadventures arrived at Trevi, another hill town looking for a particular restaurant. Unfortunately we lost the other car & had to ring them to meet again before we followed them right out of the town & back to the freeway, much to Dick's disgust. About 10k further on we stopped in another town for a snack which was a great relief to d*** who was in agony again. From there we returned to Ponte Felcino stopping at an EMI supermart just outside the town. This was amazing carrying a fantastic range of foods, clothes & household goods & we found a few bargains to snap up.
Had an email from a friend in northern Germany inviting us to stay near Bremen, so spent 2 hours trying to check on trains from Munich to her home etc. Need to confirm dates etc but would love to catch up with her.
