Noyelles Travels
Thursday 22nd May
d*** decided to stay home to rest his knee today and maybe to have a rest from all the women. Freya and the rest of us set off to see Lake Trasimeno, via the motorway through lots of tunnels to bypass Perugia. Our first stop was S Feliciano a little village opposite Isola Polvese the biggest island on the lake. We found a cafe right on the lake with interesting decor and great coffee, we sat outside and enjoyed the scenery before exploring the town. We walked up to see the church but unfortunately it was closed.
Drove around to the other side of the lake to Castigione del Lago and found a place to park before climbing up to the entrance to the old town, lots of interesting food shops to explore. Very few tourists, found a great place for lunch overlooking the lake, we all had a small pizza which was huge but delicious. Returned home though some little towns stopping to take photos of poppies which were growing beside and in the crops of wheat. Caroline called in to print out our train ticket and stayed for a drink before we started cooking dinner, delicious Italian sausages and salad for dinner. A game of bridge before bed.
