Noyelles Travels
Sunday 18th May A fine day again &
after breakfast we set off in Freya's car to see Gubbio a walled town to the north east of Perugia.
Unfortunately the place was absolutely full & there was nowhere to park so off we went to Montone, a walled village high in the hills. This was a beautiful place still largely unspoilt although it has been heavily restored.
Here we had lunch with an excellent range of ante pasta items before wandering through the village & admiring the superb views across to the mountains past the farms & the wooded hills.
We returned home after a great day’s travel through idyllic rural scenes.
Robin & Peta prepared a wonderful meal as they had invited Caroline, the English lady who manages the property for its Perth owner, for dinner. Caroline is a 45 year old English lawyer who has left the law to live in Umbria & she proved a very interesting guest. She explained
that the house is 2 years old & still has some teething problems but it is beautifully situated overlooking the Tiber valley & across to the ranges of hills, some still with snow on the top.
