Day 346, 15 June 2013, Puerto Iguazú, Argentina. We've done in on trains, we've done it in planes, we've done it in trucks, we've even seen ducks. We've kept company with goats, also done it on boats (both ferry and ship - and took care not to slip). We've done it on buses and coaches alike. We've done it on our feet. We've done it in our sleep. We've done it over bridges, land, water and sea. We thought we had done it all, you see. But today was "a first", (there have been many of them). For today's border crossing was new to us both - not from "A" to "B" but rather "B" to "A" thus the other way round - Brazil to Argentina, with not one ounce of stress because we were in a TAXI no less!
The absolute highlight of the trip was when our cabbie jumped out at the Brazil exit, trotted in and had us stamped out of Brazil while we sat in the car. Then we continued on to the "drive through" immigration point for Argentina. Quite disappointed she didn't ask us if we wanted fries with that, but must resist any urge to make jokes with Immigration Officials. They never, ever, find them funny. The difference between Brazil and Argentina was immediately apparent - we like Argentina! Wouldn't say Foz was dangerous... but neither of us felt particularly safe or welcome (100% Portuguese - hardly any English at all). Our Spanish is improving on a daily basis however and we received a very efficient briefing on the Iguassu Flower Garden Guesthouse from our host Enrique. Took a walk, found the bus stop for tomorrow's excursion to the Argentinian side of the Falls. Hunted lunch. But mainly took pleasure in finally having crossed a border by taxi! Since it was a generally quiet day, today's photo is another of the many waterfall shots from yesterday's visit to the Brazilian side of the falls.
