Day 320, 20 May 2013, Cozumel, Mexico. Dive - Dive - Dive !!! Nope, not on a submarine, we arrived at the island of Cozumel first thing and whilst not the first off the boat... we were close. We accomplished a great deal of "Pre-shopping" in the hour before we met our dive excursion. Excellent shopping scoped out, we headed off for our first taste of Caribbean diving... Fabulous coral and fish life, excellent visibility and a well run and efficient operation - only 8 of us diving off a small boat. Super restful way to get back in the water - can't believe our last dive was Dahab in the Red Sea/Egypt back in August. These were great "cobweb blowing" dives. The luxury of a gangway port meant as soon as we finished our two dives we could walk onboard, shower, change, have another Mexican lunch then head off again for SHOPPING! Quaint customs they have in Cozumel... Would Sir/Madam like a Tequila whilst you browse? Mais oui! Certainement Monsieur - Is the Pope Catholic?!!! We ended up with 8 Tequilas under our belts and the shopping got more and more fun. And the day got hotter and hotter (and hotter). Go figure... Just a few trinkets and some snazzy earrings for my birthday (today!) Ran the gauntlet of the duty free shops (no actually... don't need another tequila to taste...) and walked on board with 15 minutes to spare. Still in complete (ish) charge of our senses. Unlike the darlings who ran up the gangway 29 minutes late and 1 minute before the ship got underway - Ahhhh the lure of cheap margaritas on the pier!
We repaired to the Golden Olympian (yes - just as glitzy as it sounds) for birthday dinner and of course singing waiters and a candle lit slice of birthday cake - fabulous opportunity to launch new earring acquisition. Teensy bit tired though.... Diving Belize tomorrow!
