Simpson Desert Day 2, Monday 25th July. Cold night, but beautiful clear blue sky in the morning. Simpson Desert Day 1, Sunday 24th July. Left Birdsville about 11am. Had a play on Little Red and Big Red. The amount of wildlife has been amazing, heaps of birds and lots of green shrubbery! Rolled into Birdsville about 4:30pm yesterday. The road in from Boulia was fantastic. Plenty of water lying around in the flats which are teaming with wildlife. We had dinner at the Birdsville Hotel followed by a few drinks, and then a few more drinks. Chris and I got back to the tents about 2am, apparently!! Drove from Winton to Boulia this morning. 369km of scenery and not much else. We saw emus, eagles, red & grey kangaroos, cattle, sheep, magpies and grey nomads...! Heading south now towards Birdsville.

And then there were two. Michael and Anne are sprinting home which leaves Chris, Amity and Noddy heading to Birdsville via Boulia. 743km / 8 hours! 7:25am. Blue sky, sunny.. 3 degrees and car ice warning flashing!
