Left Cairns this morning and did 810km to Winton. Mark peeled off this morning to take Penny to the airport and drive home via the coast. Chris, Michael & Anne, Amity & I are the last remaining in three vehicles. Lots of dead pigs on the road in these parts!!! Visited the Winton Hotel to watch the Storm game v Broncos... Quietly and carefully celebrating!!!

Had a great night in Cairns!!! Backpackers galore, no, best part was me, Mike and Chris all having a great time with our wives after the kids gone back to motel room!! Coyote ugly girls OK I suppose..!!!! Good to be 20-something again LOL

Rolled into Cairns yesterday lunchtime, found a motel and cracked a can of throat lubricant. Good chance to clean the cars and generally sit around, have a swim, get some takeaway, do shopping or whatever is your thing after being remote for two weeks. Dinner at the pub together followed by a few drinks at PJ O'Briens. Who would have known that the place would be full of backpackers dancing on the bar!! Good times, sore head this morning...

Yesterday after most did a mine tour at Weipa we drove to Coen where we camped on the river bank. This morning the Moss truck took off early to sprint to Cairns via Cooktown. Dom & Dennis need to be back at work in the next couple of days, we don't!! As we head further inland, the weather is getting even better. Today we drove from Eliot Falls to Weipa. We completed the Telegraph Track run today with a crossing of Gunshot Creek. If that doesn't mean much to you, YouTube "Gunshot crossing" and you'll see why we are celebrating with a counter meal and few drinks!! I had the best steak I've had since I last visited Rare Steakhouse. We all appreciate not cooking and showers are always welcome by the girls!!
