Well i got to townsville the day before (the dreaded hangover day and did nothing but watch tv - oooo i saw my first episode of neighbours here - (well susan is gettin married to some new family, dylan and tad are in jail and sky is going out with dylan, summer is at some prestigious music academy, steph is pregnant but dreaming of drew and that was about it!!) Ok well the next day i bboked a trip to the Billabong Sanctuary where i got to feed kangaroos by hand (alot of slobber), i held a koala, held a python, watched crocodiles being fed, stroked a wombat and looked at all the aussie animals. It was totally amazing - loved every minute of it especially the kangaroos they were so friendly (only these ones in the wild they are not!!) In the afternoon vic arrived ready for our dive trip to the yongala tomo so had some dinner at a thai place - oh how i miss thai food theni had an early night. Now the dive trip. The yongala is one of the top dive sites in the world. The number of fish and types of fish within the area is one of the highest - may even be the highest volume of animals. The SS yongala was built in Newcastle in 1905 and sank in 1911 in some sort of cyclone but it wasnt until 1958 that it was discovered. The dive was v tricky as had to swim along a rope to get to the mooring line but the current was so immense we just had to hold on for dear life and had to hold the nmooring line whilst descending or we would get washed away! Once down at about 26m it was fine and it was amazing. Saw turtle and i even got to touch its shell, saw shovel head ray, sting ray, loads of fish, loads of sea snakes they were everywhere. I didnt see my manta ray - maybe next time though!! That was pretty much all i did in townsville, it was pretty small. After the dive we had to rush to the bus station to get our bus for airlie beach but when we got there they told us we ahd a two hour delay which meant that we arrived in airlie at 2am!!! AND had to get up at 6am for the whitsundays trip which i will come to in the next update nikki xx
