Today we had a lovely sleep in until 8am, it was so needed especially when we have to get up at 5.45am tomorrow morning.
We started the day of with a 3 course breaky, pot of tea, then an orientation drive around Dublin. The hotel is pretty central which is nice for a change and the rooms are very nice too. We saw lots of georgian style houses and beautiful memorial monuments. Saw more monuments from the famine, they were statues of these ghastly, skinny figurines, they were very eire.
We were then let loose in the city by our selves, it was great fun, just what we needed lol! We got a day bus pass, so we could hope on and off any bus as many times as we desired. Which worked out well cause we got off to late when going to the guinness factory and had to catch another bus a few stops back lol. The building is in the shape of a giant pint of Guinness where when you reach the top, the gravity bar you get 360 degrees views of Dublin and the surrounding Wicklow mountains, it was fantastic. It took around about 2 hours, and was so nice to not be on a time limit.
Then we went for a look at St Patrick's cathedral, it costs to go in though so we gave it a miss as we have already been in a lot already. We skipped lunch and went straight to the dublin castle. It was originally a 1700's castle where England was ruled from but most of it got burnt down, only one tower left. It is now an 18th century palace that is still used today by government officials. The queen had visited there in May earlier this year. The rooms where stunning with portraits of old kings that had ruled there, a gold thrown, murals on the roof and the most spectacular chandeliers I have ever seen.
After all that learning it was time to head back to the temple bar for a beer, we were b*****ed! They had lots of great one man live bands going in every direction, poor Boof didn't want to leave he lives that live music, pub scene.
