Woke up today to the sun shining, not sure how long it will last but it was great to see this morning. Had a well deserved sleep in, 7 am, spoilt I know lol!!
We are driving along the south coast of Ireland, with spectacular views of the Atlantic ocean. Ireland is very much farming communities, lots of cows and horses. It is very very green and still hilly with beautiful cottages scattered every where. The living isn't as dense as Wales. Along the country side there are these big crosses in the odd field, they are famine crosses to mark mass greaves from when the great famine hit Ireland in 1845 and killed many many people.
We stopped in to the town of Youghal, it is another seaside town but this is where Mobby d*** was made in 1954. We went for a nice walk to the light house, it was pretty windy but not to cold. We also drove through a small town called Cobh, this was titanic's last port of call.
For lunch we stopped in at Blarney, we got a couple of hours for a look around. It has started raining again but we didn't let it stop us, we walked through the enchanting Blarney castle and gardens. Even walked up the 100 steps to kiss the Blarney stone found at the top of the castle, built into the wall. The myth is if you kiss the stone you will receive the gift of eloquence bestowed upon you, I think Boofa already has that lol, he can talk him self out of anything lol. The gardens were beautiful but we ran out of time to have a good look around them cause we had to fit lunch in. We have been enjoying soups most lunches, they really help to warm you up. I had a seafood chowder, apparently Ireland is known for it's seafood but I never knew it.
Tonight we are staying in Killarney, we stay here for two nights yippee!!! It's still raining but we went for a walk down the street any way. Bought an Irish cd which I listened to while having a long hot bath.
Had a lovely Irish stew and Guinness for tea yum yum!
