Today we spent all day on the beach at Surfers Paradise. The beach there was far better than the ones on the sunshine coast – it actually had sunshine! From 9am we were out on the sand reading, then we made a trip to the post office to post our postcards and got to see the Surfer’s monorail that went from the biggest hotels to the casinos and back. We didn’t ride on it though as money was becoming very tight and it didn’t actually go anywhere but casinos, apparently a big business in Australia.
We both went for a swim this morning but the surf was very rough so mine was more like a walk in the sea trying not to get drowned, although Vincent swam out further and found an area that was calmer, he also tried jogging along the beach today to get some cardio exercise because we aren’t at the gym anymore.
We had shakes for lunch as it was so hot and we didn’t feel like cooking, then in the evening we found a spot out of the way to cook and another spot by a lake in a village called Carerra just in land from Surfer’s where we could camp undisturbed until the morning when the dog walkers turned up again and we discovered we had parked by a dog exercise park complete with a doggy assault course!
Today was also Vincent’s birthday but due to lack of funds and him not wanting to make a thing of it we just spent the day relaxing and trying to pretend we aren’t nearly 30 now.
