We had to get up today at 5am, because we had a long walk ahead of us. Our guide told us that we were not going to have breakfast right away...only when we get to the top of the mountain. We had a 3 hour hike up a steep, very steep mountain.
At the beginning, it wasn't so bad. I had Machu Picchu under my belt, so I felt I could do anything at this point. However, an hour passed, and I was running low on water and snacks for energy. Luckily, there was a women, half way, selling food and drinks to help us continue. Everytime I thought that we reached the top, I was wrong. It seemed like the mountain was a never-ending mountain. I would constantly think to myself: "why am I going through this torture? Why did I pay for this torture?".
After a grueling 3 hours, Eyal and I reached the top. The Quebec couple was still lagging way behind. They were not used to the altitude yet. When we all reached the top, we took a picture to comemorate our acheivement. We were now long overdue for breakfast...
Breakfast was in a hostal, in a small town. It was really funny because the town itself was nothing more to look at, however, the plaza des armas was beautiful. It was like the mayor of the city does not care about the beauty of the entire city, only the plaza. We rested there for a bit, while waiting for our bus to arrive. We took the bus to Chaway, another city where we were going to have lunch and go to the hot springs.
Hot springs was great, because like Machu Picchu, I had not taken a shower, and that was a perfect place to take one. Lunch was also great, because it was a buffet! After lunch, we now had a 4 hour bus ride back to Arequipa.
The bus ride was a nightmare for me. I had the hugest migraine and fever, and I thought I was going to die. When I finally told our guide, Gelmond, that I was really feeling ill, he stopped the bus and went to go get some first aid things in the storage area. My migraine lasted for 2 hours, and then it finally died down.
When we got to Arequipa, Gelmond was really nice in that he walked me to a pharmacie to get some medication. I was contemplating going to the hospital, but I was fine now. I decided to stay another night in Arequipa, though. The hostal that I originally wanted had an availability. I thought that it would be best that I take the 6 hour bus ride to Puno in the morning...

Millie Note to self: When travelling to Peru with Nick carry painkillers and medicine for altitude sickness - if there are any.
