Started out this morning at 7.30am - the majority of people suffering from aches and pains and tired legs. There is also a lot of people who are walking with a wide gait and finding sitting down a little uncomfortable and the amount of details some people are going into about their sore 'bits' is quite frankly too much information!!
The first section was through the town and the traffic was stopped to allow us to get through without too much disruption although it everyone was happy about having to wait for the crazy ladies on their bikes! Once the traffic was allowed to move the hundreds of Nissan minibuses packed full of locals came whizzing by, beeping their horns and generally making it known they were a little bit annoyed. Once we were on more open roads the group spread out and things became a lot more relaxed. We finished the 24km section in a layby next to a school and the children came out and sang for us. We left the school a huge bag of pens and toys to share between the children.
Section 2 was a shorter 20km route - very pretty as the landscape had changed. We rode through a wetlands area and past more tea plantations. A nasty little hill at the end meant that there were some very tired people arriving at the rest stop.
Section 3 before lunch was a bit more hilly but again some fantastic scenery. Lots more tea plantations and we seemed to be in an area which was much more hot and humid.
We had lunch after 65kms - unfortunately it was a bit like being in a fish bowl. There was at least 20-30 children leaning over the hedge watching us eat! We also had 2 minutes silence to coincide with 11am in the UK.
After lunch we had just 2 sections left. More cycling through the lush, green, humid areas (anyone see where this is going)? It's such a nice area because it rains..... Lots!! This afternoons 30km was in a torrential downpour - so we put our heads down and cycled as fast as possible to get finished.
Total distance covered today 93kms.
