G'day folks and folkettes,
I hope all is well back in England. So, I have reached the end of the road up the coast! Last Monday Robb, Ryan and I rented a car to head up to Cape Tribulation ourselves. We are slightly sick of being toured around now. All we ever get told about is the animals that can kill. 'Animals that can kill? Oh yes.... of course the brown snake can... and the orange snake, the blue snake, the black snake, the purple snake, the red snake and the blue snake.... the big spiders, medium sized spiders and the small spiders...'
The list goes on! We even found out that there is even a tree that, if you touch it, it will inject poison in you. Nice, huh? So we took it upon ourselves to leave the tour guide at home at go up ourselves! We did go on a night walk one evening, deep into the rainforests up there and saw spiders, snakes, lizards, dragons, stick insects, and lots more creepy crawly things. Very exciting! They also have the biggest ever toads, the size of footballs! They invented the cane toad to kill off the cane beetle... but unfortunately the cane toad can't reach the cane beetle (at the top of the cane) so now they have loads of useless oversized toads roaming all over Australia. Clever, huh.
Now I'm back in Cairns and chillaxing by the lagoon most days as it is hot, humid, and mid 30s everyday, and wandering around the night markets at night. They have to have them at night as it's too hot in the day! I went snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef yesterday which was incredible. I found Nemo! And many other fish. Snorkelling is by far the best thing on the east coast!
Flying back down to Brisbane tomorrow for another week with the family in Maryborough. Then back to Canberra for Christmas, probably hitting Sydney and the Blue Mountains on the way down.
Lots of love to the 'Mother Country'
Nick xx

Vickie Everytime I read your blogs I think how amazing it all sounds and I get a little more green with envy!! Haha you're a brave little boy to go out without the tourguides if EVERYTHING there will kill you! Oh, and if it helps them, I will take a few cane toads off their hands :) Well here it's been raining for about a week. Monsoon season. And St Crispins has flooded...haha local news I bet you really wanted to know! Oh and me and Steve were in Reading the other day, and we found the most amazing thing that we think we might buy you for when you get back haha. Although we will want some too ;P Xxxxx P.S. Was wondering, and don't mean for this to sound rude or anything, but have you met lots of Bruces and Sheilas?
