So, the Australian Road Trip with Mick and Emily is over. I can't believe they have been over for nearly three weeks, time flies by. We survived in our camper, just about! Travelling 3500ks, just over 2000miles in total. It is a big country! The van had a few dodgey moments, headlights turning off, plooms of smoke coming out of the back, dodgey gear box.... but it got us back to Sydney, so we can't complain. We managed to camp by the side of the road, in car parks, outside my relatives houses, without bother. Only getting moved on once! Located all of the 'Big things' that can be found up the east coast, and returned to my favourite places of Noosa, Rainbow Beach, Brisbane, and a few more stops along the way.
On the penultimate day we managed to get up to Hervey Bay to meet up with Roy again. We went for a BBQ and in the morning we sailed across to Fraser Island. We pulled up as close as we could get to Fraser, put all our valuables we wanted to take over in a box, and muggins here swam it across. Upon our return to the boat, post bevvie and munch, we found that stingrays had kindly based themselves between island and boat. Alas, we struggled on, fought them off, and I once again swam back to the boat with a box on my head. Surrounded by stingrays. Praying that I wouldn't drop the box and lose our months worth of memories on our cameras. I don't know, these stressful situations I find myself in, eh?
After getting back to mainland we began our 18hour drive back to Sydney in our non air conditioned skip on wheels. The engine is nicely located below the passenger seats so a hot bot was a neccessity.
Now, in Melbourne I have found myself in a place where they have had their hottest night on record in 100 years (a mere 37oC) AT NIGHTTIME. Sleep sleep and more sleep is needed. However, I'm can assure you, Ramsay Street and the Australian Open are just around the corner...
That's all folks.
I hope that the country is back to working order again. It does sound like you are all having fun. Who is going to be the one to build a snow possom for me though!?
3 months in, 1month and a squidge to go.
See you after the squidge!

Big Sis Surely given your track record with cameras, Mick and Emily were very brave letting you carry their cameras! Glad you're still having fun xxx
