Glasshouse Mountains
The Glasshouse Mountains are an inland range just north of Brisbane that we did a quick 1day-1night visit to on the way to Hervey Bay. It's really beautiful with about 15 'mountains' making up the range. There's an interesting aboriginal story about how the mountains came to look the way they do and how they ended up with names like 'Crookneck' and 'Beerwah'. We walked/climbed up one of the mountains, which was pretty hard work, but worth it due to the lovely 360o views of the rest of the range.
Campervan: Our first night in the campervan was pretty uneventful and pretty uncomfortable. We soon learned that you have to park the van on an area as flat as possible, otherwise you end up rolling to one side or one end... During our 3 weeks though, we got pretty good at living out of the van and really enjoyed it. As you can see from the photos, it had a DVD player, sink, cooker, fridge in the back and a fold down double bed. It didn't break down once, despite Zoe driving half way across Australia with the handbreak on, and we grew quite attached to 'Kermit' (you'll see why we named him that.) We strongly recommend 'Jucy' as a company to use for van and car hire if you are in New Zealand or Australia. Anyway, plug over, on to Hervey Bay and Fraser Island next.
