Arrival

Arrived on Sunday 30th December at 7.30am. Got a train and a bus to Turramurra,
which is a suburb just north of the city centre. Whilst in Sydney we were lucky enough to stay with Nick's relatives who lived there. We managed to make it to their house and were greeted by Steve,
Irene, Andrew and Emily (The Etchells). After sorting ourselves out and having some lunch, Steve took us to Whale Beach, one of the lesser known Northern Beaches. The sun was so hot,
we were definitely the whitest people on the beach... A lot of catching up to do! We went for our first swim in Aussie waters and soon got bashed back to shore by the massive waves. The beaches on
the North Shore are beautiful and we wouldn't have found them without Steve's local knowledge. We then went back to their place for our first Aussie BBQ - not bad for day 1! We discovered the key
ingredient to a proper Aussie BBQ, you must douse everything in beer as you cook it - Dad you will have to try this at home! We were very jet-lagged but it was so lovely to be made so welcome and
well looked after on our first day in Australia.
