Canberra
After a sleepy Greyhound journey, we were picked up by Annie and Cive (Rob's Mum and Step-Dad), who took us straight to a couple of bars for some afternoon beers in the sun. Having had nothing to eat since 6am, Zoe was concerned that her speech was becoming slurred after the second glass of Pimms! Saw some great views over Canberra on the way to their palace in the suburbs. Spent the afternoon swimming in the 'Billabong' pool and lazing in the sun. Keeping in mind the folk at home, we sent Rob a picture of us in the pool, which i'm sure he appreciated. Had a lovely evening with Annie and Clive drinking and eating more BBQ food. Again the beer dousing technique came into play.
We went to the Australian Parliament Building and had a really interesting tour. Because of the age of Canberra the set up is excellent and the buildings were very impressive. On Ellie and Matt's reccomendation (!) we visited the Australian Institue of Sport. Amazing to see all the sportsmen and women that have been through the place over the last 25 years. Have a look at the picture of Nick wining his gold medal on the podium. More lazing by the pool in the afternoon and some competitive snooker between Clive and Nick (still need to have a decider). On Monday we took a tour of the famous Australian War Memorial, which was very impressive and well worth the visit. Had a great time in Canberra and glad that we made it there. Annie and Clive, thank you so much for making such a fuss of us - Tempted just to live with you for the rest of the year!
On to another bus, now heading for the East Coast.
