The manager at MD House organised us an airport taxi for 10am. When we got to the airport (when the slowest taxi driver in the world finally got us there!!) we saw our flight was delayed by almost 2 hours & we'd got there really flippin early too, sods law! The plan had been to go to an elephant camp today but after a lot of research, chatting to locals & travel agencies we basically had two options; to pay an absolute fortune to go to a conservation & learn how to train elephants (meant to be amazing but very expensive when on a travellers budget!!) or go to a local camp whetre people say the elephants aren't so happy & do shows etc. We simply couldn't afford to go to the good place & didn't want to...

Decided to go up into the moutains of Chiang Mai today to see the Doi Suthep temple. We waved a songthaew down outside our hostel (basically a pick up truck with a roof and benches down the sides of the back as seats) - Nick baterred with the driver & they eventually agreed on 400 Baht for a return for the pair of us. Went for a BIG breakfast at the Irish pub down the road so that we were full up for the day (very yummy indeed). From there we walked to the Tha Pae Gate (the main enterence to the old city) before continuing on to Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh before then experiencing Thailand rain, aka Fat Rain!!!!! Had a lazy morning following our late flight and check in last night. The owner had told us about the Chiang Mai Sunday marker so we had a brunch at a nearby pub/restaurant & made our way to that.
