The need for speed satisfied, Wednesday was time to take in a bit of culture - the museums were open.
Or so we thought. Top of our list was a museum giving, amongst other things, a history of La Paz including photographs of its colonial prime. Except it is shut for renovations.
Another set of four museums saw two of these closed for renovations, and the other two were pretty poor. Hoards of school children running around with activity books never helps.
Lunch was record breaking at 64p for two courses. Our Death Road guide recommended trying the small food stalls in the central market. Actually pretty good.
So, our culture session was brief and not hugely informative. I can't actually remember what we did for the rest of the day.
That evening we decided to head for a more upmarket part of town for the evening. It was certainly more upmarket, but dead. Clearly not the place to be midweek. We ended up in a recommended Thai/Indian restaurant for dinner. Fabrice's Thai curry was very good, my Indian curry - well put it this way, I've had hotter watermelons. Still, it was good to see another side of La Paz.
