Just another update!
For anyone watching the news Japan was just hit with a Tsunami and alerts to America have put Australia in that category. However, we have been advised that Australia is not in the alert or in a warning. So no worries I am fine and I will be!
This week we had the opportunity to travel to the local Historical Prison to get a night tour.It was really interesting. It is Western Australia's only World Heritage listed building.
For a little History lesson, the British originally came to Australia in 1787 to "dump off" convicts!Australia was used as holding grounds for convicts and (well resources and navel ports but that isn't the interesting part). So as History continued this particular Prison was built. It was only in 1991 when they shut down the operations and just opened 2 years after to tourists. That is only 20 years ago! It is a huge cement plantation with everything still in place from 20 years ago, everything from pens on the office desks to carvings in the walls from inmates.Because it was a night tour it made the atmosphere that more spooky. Our tour guide was in somewhat of character while he took us through the life of a prisoner.
Throughout the night people in costume popped out of cells and around corners explaining their story. This particular prison had a men and women wards.Off all the inmates over time 44 were hanged in which only 1 of them was a woman. We were taken to the actual place of the hanging. That one woman, Martha something or other was the only woman hanged for triple murder of her stepchildren. Her particular character came out and shared with us her story, she was a bit creepy I must admit but it was a great informational tour.We all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Finally got my classes changed.I am now enrolled in a Public Relations class, thank goodness because that whole Western Tradition Literature was becoming a huge joke. Now, classes are starting to pick up and reading and homework is becoming more demanding; although, I am not liking it all that much.I wouldn't mind going to the beach everyday with no worries! Hahah I know, I know I need to come back to reality.
Today Becca and I booked our Easter Vacation Trip.We will be traveling the West Coast ofAU.It's a 7 day tour filled with backing and the whole bit!It will definitely be an adventure. So hopefully they can provide an Easter Feast like our Swiercz Family events. For some reason I feel like homemade rolls and multiple bags of potato chips and dishes of dip won't be provided!
We also got our confirmation for our Broome Trip. This is the trip required for our History class. We leave April 1st at 4:45 am and return on April 6th.The flight is a couple hours long because we are heading so north. While we are there we will be making plans to ride some Camels during sunset so in a couple of weeks look for those pics!
Not too much else new, heard a big congrats goes out the girls basketball team for Regional Champs! How exciting! I send my wishes to the team as they continue onto the quarterfinals. Arlena has dance Regionals this weekend too.Sad I am missing it.
Arlena: I'm positive you will do wonderful. And you probably should have Dad or Mom tape it on her camera so you can email it to me.
Aunt Maria: Heard you are joining them that will be a nice visit with Aaron, Jamie, and Clare.
Aunt Anne, Mom, Aunt Maria, Arlena, Katie, and Mrs. G:So so so excited your flights are final and that Katie was able to get off.I will be traveling to Perth either this Saturday or next Thursday to get my flights sorted.I'll keep you posted.
Gram:How's that new computer treating you?You haven't been posting on the blog or emailing me weekly so I hope that isn't because you have forgotten about me!You will be happy to know I continue to work & pray.
Kevin: Heard your team had their last game the other night. But I also heard Kate was sure to pass along my Big Hug.Good luck on the rest of the Semester as it is going to come faster than you think!
Well that is all for now, off to get ready for the night. They call college here "uni" so they are having a "Back to Uni" party at one of the night clubs here in town so I'm off to dance the night away!
