Our boat left Lembongan on time and when it arrived at Sanur, Helen was concerned about the waves and moaning about possibly getting soaked while getting off the boat. A woman on the boat threw a comment saying it will be fine. Helen managed to get off the boat dry, but the very same woman who said it would be fine fell straight into the ocean soaking her bag that had her laptop, SLR camera, digital camera and 3 mobile phones..... Karma or what?
On the minibus drive to Legian, we were overwhelmed with the number of fast food outlets, cars and the general modernism of Bali as we have adjusted well to island life on Trawangan and Lembongan.
We returned to the same place we stayed in last time, as we felt it was good value and the family were pleased to see us return. The first thing we did (naturally) was to stock up on DVD's and hire a DVD player.
The next day we went shopping in M&S, Topman, Dorothy Perkins etc - it almost felt like we were back in London. The rest of the day was spent watching DVD's which was nice as for the last 2 months we have been constantly been on the go.
Nick went bodyboarding and he enjoyed catching the waves but when he finished he managed to lose Helen's expensive fins amongst the waves (the fins that Helen treated herself to before starting her Divemaster course.......)
On our last night in Bali, we went for a no expense spared meal at Pearl French Restaurant to celebrate completing our Divemaster course, our 8 month travel anniversary and completing Asia. Helen treated herself to Foie au gras, Duck and Chocolate fondant while Nick treated himself to Caviar, Steak and Profiteroles. We both indulged in a bottle of wine...yes just the one bottle!
Throughout the night we reminisced on our best memories, worst moments, things we miss and things we don't! It was definitely one of the best meals we have had in a very long time.
Bali marked the end of our Asian Adventure, which has been absolutely amazing covering Malaysia, Borneo, Philippines, Singapore, India, Nepal, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia.
Now we are heading into Western Civilisation, Hello Australia!
