Queenstown is our destination today, not too far to go although we have really enjoyed the travelling through this beautiful diverse country. We stopped for lunch on the southern most shores of the stunning Lake Wakatipu some 30 Km away from Queenstown. bright sunshine and 25 degrees!!! Turned out to be a lazy lunch, we just didn't want to leave - we were tempted to go for a swim in the lake but were reliably informed that the water temperature was only 10 degrees so gave it a miss. After 2 hours we were back on the road to Queenstown where the road continued along the edge of the lake and passed the Remarkables, a ski area and the site of a lot of the filming in themLord of the Rings and Wolverine. After a few wrong turns we eventually arrived at our site for the night and took in a bit more sun - really hot by now, before venturing into Queenstown on the site mini bus. Queenstown was really buzzing and a lot more people in one area than we had seen on the rest of the island but there was a really good atmosphere around the town. We only had a limited time before our return journey on the mini bus and first of all we went up the Skyline Gondola, which gave commanding views all over Queenstown and the adjacent lakes - an incredible site. Back on the level we headed for the busy harbour area and had drinks over looking the lake and it was soon time to meet the mini bus. It was then back to the site to cook supper which we ate out side under the canopy of the motorhome at 10pm and it was still quite warm.
