8th Nov 2007….

So the bus journey started off alright - seat to myself - all good, until it decided to break down in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. Stranded for 5-6 hours. Great - hardly any sleep, so hungry, and I've only got one day in Memphis so really wanted to maximize my time. Oh plus I'm the token again. I don't mind but I just must stick out - guess I better get used to that when I hit Peru. Had a rest stop at some random place. s***ty little store so not many people got off, that was until someone came back on the bus with Chicken wings and the crowd went wild……so funny!

Finally arrived in Memphis - got to the hostel - Pilgrim House. - Realized it wasn't really the normal type of hostel. It was attached to a church - literally and was also a retreat for people going through hard times. I was even given chores to do, plus there was a church convention in town - thought I had f***ed this one up a bit! Luckily their was only one other person staying in my dorm and he was English . Rich Robinson - Gloucester and a life safer. He was in the same position as me, so we decided to head downtown and check out the legendary 'Beale Street'. Had a really good night, even saw the legend himself - B.B King (Blues). We met Steph Dickinson and she took us to this random bar that was apparently haunted. Checked it out. It really was a bit weird. Then we went back to her place where we met her friends, Beth, Erin. Few more beers then back to the Christian hostel. - 4am, drunk - not sure they were very pleased with us, then got up too late to get my deposit back so there was no way I was going to do their chore.

9th Nov 2007...

Went into town with Rich, walked around for a bit and then checked out the Rock & Soul museum. Decided not to go to graceland as it was quite expensive, didn´t have much time and to be honest wasn´t really that bothered (Sorry Joe!). I already had my bag with me ready for departure later that day so decdied to go and watch American Gangster - quality film, made it even better as i could appracite it a bit more considering it was set in NYC, so could tel where they had filmed it.

Then headed for the greyhound - again - to make my way to Austin, TX.
