Up early, well 10.30 and headed to the greyhound terminal for to catch the bus to DC. 3 hours and 50 mins! Was going to meet Marc at the hostel in DC.
Finally found it after the bus dropped me off some dodgy area of town and it was right where the legend was on my map so could't work out where i was going......bloody maps! Got to the hostel where Marc had already checked me in and had sorted me out with pasta..nice of him really!
Then we went straight out.....this was sight seeing turbo time....Saw Capitol Hill, Pentagon, White house, Washinton Momument, Lincoln Memorial etc...all lit up. Was pretty special, looked really cool.
22 Oct 2007...
Up early again and walked arounf where we had been last night.....again looked amazin! Check out the pics! Was going to go up the Washington Momumnet but didn't really have time. Same with the Spy Musm. but didn't have time....did look pretty interesting through. So many of the buildings in the centre..sorry downdown looked the same...looked good though. Had a nice sub from a place called Blimpies a ithink and then headed back towards the greyhound terminal to get my bus back to NY in time for the Knick game that night! On the way to the terminal saw some crazy people lovin it in the street.....got to check out the videos!!
So Week one.....................Done............Gole!
So hows my little adventure going? Thoughts so far...
Most American people seem really nice...well over the top sometimes but others are just plain rude so guess its better to be over the top!!
Hostel life os ok...Just get used to it really, clean enough, the average age in these bad boys is higher than i thought though!
Making friends is pretty easy too especially staying in hostels as everyone is in the same boat really. I've only had half a day on my own since arriving on greyhound. Met some cool people like Marc, Bert and Iyla. Hoping to meet up with Bert and Iyla in Vagas.
Got my new cell number which is 267-324-8702 - still quite expensive though so is better to txt!
As for America itself.....it pretty uch like i expected. Everything is about 4 times as big as it really need to be. Most people seem to fit into the steorotypical typesyou'd think of too. Punks/rock dudes/big pimpin G's/moma's, oh and fat people!!!
Starting to settle into life on thwe road now, but it has been quite a hectic week. Really looking forward to the Knicks game at MSG Madison Square Garden in NYC.
Bye for now!
