Why isn't tallness a recognised disability?
Day 7 was an excellent day full of excellent adventures without Bill + Ted anywhere to be seen. We went wild today and went caving in the Waitomo Caves on an expedition called 'The Black Abyss'. This involved an absail 40m down into the caves, then a bit of a zip line down even further followed by a leap into freezing water onto a tube, that was the best bit. It involved 3 hours underground and ended with a climb up the waterfalls of doom.
The trip was run by 2 guys, one called Fraser and the other called Dan. Dan went by the name 'Cowboy', ive got no idea why but he was wearing a cowboy hat. Im considering wearing my hat all the time so I can cultivate a nickname for myself, I do quite like the sound of 'Beenie'.
Nicola took quite a shine to Cowboy, as most females probably would. If im honest, when he called me "Big Fella" it did make me feel kind of special. After the tour we conversed with the guides and Nicola and I asked the pertinent questions of the day such as "Where did you get your cowboy hat from" and "Do you ever have to turn people away for being too fat?". Speaking of being too fat, they provided us with soup and a bagel, thats 1 bagel, not 4.
It was also enjoyable to meet a real life person called Rupert on the cave tour. Rupert has a double-barelled surname and chooses what hostel to stay at based on whether they have a spa. He was everything you'd expect a Rupert to be and you can't help but salute that.
After such a thrilling day we set off on a 2 hour trip to Lake Taupo, there I have met the man who has committed the major crime of stealing Nicolas heart, John-Guy Bishop. So far he seems like a lovely chap.
