Hunter Valley is a really nice place - and cheap too!! Stayed in a really nice villa which came complete with a BBQ and a pool - both of which we took full advantage of!! Actually cost us the same as a double room in our hostel in Sydney! Didn't get there till late on our first day so just went out for dinner. The next day we went full on wine tasting - best bit of all is that it's all free!! You turn up at a winery (or cellar door as they're known), they give you a menu and you pick the wines you want to taste! Worked out we must have had at least a bottle each by the end of the day! Bought a few wines and some nice cheese and went back to our villa where we had a swim in the pool and watched some Oz Neighbours... anyone want to know what happens??!! Then started our BBQ - the first we've had! Really good - had steak, kebabs and jacket potatoes - mmm! Then had cheese and wine later - how sophisticated!
